Full Moon Ramblings

Last night was a full moon. In fact it was a SUPER full moon and when I looked online to make sure that it really was going to be a full moon last night I found out that it was also called the Full Corn Planting Moon and/or the Full Milk Moon. Why? I don't know, I didn't feel like doing a full on research on why, but it was nice to know that the beautiful moon that I saw last night had some pretty cool names...coz my days, it was a beautiful moon.

A picture I took last night enjoying the full moon.

When I was a little girl, I used to open up my window and it had a perfect view of the moon, at whatever phase it was at...and I would "talk to the moon" because I was taught that you had to "talk to God"...but I didn't really know how. All I know was that God was "up there" and at night whenever I looked "up there" I saw the moon. So at an early age, it was always me talking to moon hoping that somehow my words were also traveling "up there" to God. Also, it was a good visual for me...I wasn't just talking into space or something...I was talking to the moon and praying that it was somehow reaching God's ears. I know now that it was and has and will always be. But the moon holds a lot of sentiment to me.

The past few weeks have been tough, no doubt for everyone, but my feelings are valid, too. Sometimes it's easier for me to be strong for those who need me to be strong for them when they can't be strong themselves...but for some reason, for as long as I can remember, it has hard for me to allow someone to be strong for me. I somehow feel like I don't deserve it or something...but you know what, I'm slowly getting there. Trusting people more. But last night, as I was sat waiting for the moon to pop up out from all the clouds, I was zooming down memory lane and remembering all the secrets I would "tell" the moon...and I miss doing that.

I journal. I blog. I do have my friends that I talk to, however those nightly moments when I use to voice my thoughts to the moon, was so pure and so heartfelt. And that's what I did last night. I talk and talk and talked and realized that wow, that was something I really needed. I makes me smile to know that that same moon that I saw last night is the same moon that was there for me when I needed to talk all those years ago. I don't even know why I stopped.

I love the ocean. I love the mysteries that it holds and I can watch documentaries of the wonders of the ocean for hours and hours and (if only I still had internet connection!) I could even let it play for a long time in the background of my daily life whenever I was home. But what also fascinates me is the cosmos. The heavens. The sky. I am a self-claimed sunrise chaser. (Mind you, I am by far a morning person...there IS a difference!) I can cloud watch, star gaze and meteor showers amaze me. I look for those wishing stars and I smile when I can recognize certain constellations. Whenever I can see a planet my heart beats a bit faster and when I spot a satellite passing overhead, it makes me smile.

Nature is my inspiration. Yes, I hear that all the time. What inspires you? Nature. But it is so true. I can not even imagine life with out nature. And my heart fills up with so much happiness when I realize that there is a creator (God) that made all that...FOR ME. For everyone, yes...but I like to think that He took His time with certain things...a lot of things, really...because He know that it would make one of His children smile...me. At least that is MY belief.

Yes, the times right now are uncertain. Yes, the times right now are tough, and sometimes...well, a lot of times, I just feel why?! What's the point? But I know, I know that there is an end. And no matter how lonely I feel, no matter how I feel like I'm alone in my struggles, no matter how tough it all is...the moon and the sun will always rise and fall, no matter who is watching it...it just does. And the God who created them loved me enough to know...that in my darkness, I would need light. And my heart is filled one more time.

The full moon over the Olomanas.

Full Moon.

Oh my goodness! I feel like the children at the preschool can be psychic! They know that something is coming up and their actions show it! They were super crazy this today! I was going crazy! But then I know that I can get super crazy at times...so I was trying real hard not to be crazy...even though I know that I had a lot of energy bouncing around me. And trust me, it was really hard to do...but I did it. I didn't want the children feeding off the energy that I had.

I know that this week is going to be really busy and crazy (I feel like that is the word of the day! :) I decided to stay after school a bit to get ahead of things and plan things out. By the time I left school it was already dark and I was in awe as I saw this when I got home.

I don't think that today is the full moon, but wow, the moon is amazing! It's actually shining in through my window as I am typing this and it's beautiful! I brings me back to when I was younger. The moon use to shine into my room at night and I would love it since I hate the dark...and I would sit on my bed and talk to the moon. I don't even remember when I stopped, but I do remember doing that and whenever the moon shines into my room, it brings back all these nostalgic feelings. I love a full moon. I don't like the dark, but I do love the night. The stars and the moon...so beautiful.

Super Moon.

Although the super moon is today, I went up the Makapu'u Lighthouse trail yesterday with some friends and family to see the moon. I did end up going to the beach to see the moon just a bit ago, but it was last night that it really blew me away. So, as it's been going around that it's the super moon tonight, and it's supposedly bigger than a normal full moon. I love the full moon.

Long ago, at what seemed like a different lifetime, I had this friend who once told me that whenever I get lonely, just look up and see the moon...and know that he is thinking of me too when he sees the moon. We use to sit outside for hours just talking under the moon, the stars, the night sky...and I remember telling him that it made me sad to think that there might come a time in our life where we will be separated and I wouldn't have him in my life...I know that probable a lot of other friends have done that whole "look at the stars/moon/clouds/sky and know I'm looking/thinking/under it too...blah-blah-blah." It's not the most original thing, but I remember...and that's all that matters between him and I. I don't get sad...I'm happy that we had our moment in our life. And it makes me smile.

Even though I've lived here in Hawai'i for a little bit more than 6 years, I have never climbed the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trial! I have been down that area...and I don't really like it per say, because there are centipedes galore EVERY TIME I GO THERE! And this time there was no exception. However, we were on the cement trail this time and so as long as I stayed on the cement, I didn't see any...and of course, since I have never climbed this STEEP climb...I didn't realize just how steep it was! Or how FOREVER it just kept going! But the view was out of this world for sure!

Well, I had gone with my sister and her family since parking could be a bitch...and I knew that it was going to be even worse since I knew that many people would be going there to see the moon. I ended up holding my DollGirl's hand...and you know what she wanted to do?! Run. The whole way. I died. *laughs* No, not really...but I felt like my heart was going to explode form my chest. Yes, I have started running again,...but definitely NOT uphill! And for that long...and dragging a 35 pound little fireball! Well, I shouldn't say that I started to run but I have started to "jog" again. On the flat roads of Lanikai...and this whole running business last night was NOT the business...but hey, I did have fun with my DollGirl. :)

But as I said, I had decided to "climb" the (unexpected) climb of the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail to see the moon, and it was amazing...however, I was more amazed with the gorgeous sunset! I love watching the sun set over the ocean...but I also love watching the moon rise over the water (which is why I love where I live because I get to witness both any day that I want...and I love that!) But I was in so awe of the gorgeous, amazing, breath-taking sunset!

I have the worst phone to be taking pictures at night! Experiencing the moon at any time is an in-person event because trying to capture it in a picture will just ruin it. I did try though...and those were the results...nothing to spectacular...but in-person it was amazing! I love the moonlit water! I can just imagine being a mermaid and just playing in the water!

So, like I said, I walked the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail last night...and just awhile ago, I was able to go to to the shore side of my favorite beach to watch the moon rise...and it was amazing! And I took this picture when I walked home after experiencing the moon on the shores of Lanikai...and that is the true supermoon...so beautiful.

I honestly have to say that if no one told me that it was the super moon, I wouldn't have known, I love the full moon and I love it lights the dark to that very calming glow. The full moon is the most perfect nightlight ever! I love it!

I love living here in Hawa'i. I call it home (now) and I hope to never take advantage of the beautiful things that are here. This last picture, my brother-in-law sent me...he has a better phone camera...so beautiful! :)
