Off they go!

This postcard will be traveling to Malaysia. I believe that this is the first postcard that I will be sending to Malaysia...so that is pretty awesome! :) She requested posted that showcases my country's "unique side"...and I believe that this postcard portrays that "unique side" of the amazing beaches. :) She said that she was interested in quotes and so I decided to send her some fun quotes and decorate her postcard with some washi tape and stickers! :) I hope you enjoy this beautiful postcard!

This postcard will be going to a gentleman who has been part of Postcrossing for over 4 years! He has [currently] sent out 3, 187 postcards and has received 3,167! That's a lot! I hope I get that much one day! :) In his profile he wrote that he was 18 years old and is attending a university. It looks like he enjoys sports and such. He asked for postcards illustrating "state or political figures of your country {kings}, cities and landscapes; views of where you live" and he wrote," It would be great is the title of your cite will be written on the card." So I decided to send him this multi-view postcard. I hope that he likes it!

Attempted Planner Stickers.

I have been thinking that I really want to start making my own planner stickers to use in all of my planners. I feel as if I keep buying and using other peoples designs (which I am SO very grateful for) and so I thought to try my hand at making some.

I will say that I have no idea how to make planner stickers or where to even start...so I did some research. Before I bought any program to do anything, I played around with my Microsoft Word program and I have to say that it was okay. I took the measurements of my Passion Planner (since I just wanted to start from there) and created something for Christmas. Keep in mind that this is the first time I've ever done something like this...and the results where...

I know, I know, I know...it's "plain" compared to other beautiful designs out there...but this is the first one that I messed around with and created, and I have to say that I'm pretty proud of it! I know that it's so unoriginal...the Christmas colors and all...but I don't care...I like it. I love bright colors and so I like the bright green...I have plans of wanting to let people use this for free, but I still have to figure out how to upload a printable document onto this blog and also make sure that it was usable...so I wanted to print it out.

Because I didn't want to use too much color I created a separate document of the stickers I was 90% going to use in my planner and also printed out two quotes that I know that I would like to use in my planner...and I printed it out.

And here it is. I can't say that I'm super happy about it. I think my printer is running out of ink or something because THIS was NOT what I was expecting. I did end up using these stickers in a future weekly spread, and the measurements were spot on, however it came out a lot darker than I wanted. I am still proud of it. I want to do more in the future, but I think that I need to buy more color ink though. I learned a few things with my first designing and print out of my stickers...and so for the next time I know what I need to do. I though it was a lot of fun to do though, I I can see why people like making stickers. It looks pretty good in my planner too, and so when the time comes to share the week that I used this for, I am excited for you to see how it went. I definitely am bummed about the dark print out, since I LOVE bright colors, however I am proud for my first take of planner stickers and I would love to make more in my spare time (what, what spare time!?) If I can find any! :)

Before the Pen: Nov. 27-Dec. 03.

Here is the new layout for this week! I already know that this week will be super-extra-crazy busy! But that's okay...that means that there will be no time to be bored! :) I love the quote "Fall seven times, stand up eight" it's a quotes that I hold dear when things feel like they are falling around me...I just have to find the energy to stand up and keep going. :) During this week, it's my childhood best friend's birthday, and I remember the moments that we shared together. :) I know that also this week we will be practicing for our Christmas program for the preschool. Our Christmas program will be this Friday already! Ahhhh! I hope I survive that crazy-ness that will bring! At least it will be half day on Friday...but I have to babysit my niece after school...oh my. Oh well, I love her and we will just go home and take our nap together! *laughs* It's also the week of my Grandma who passed way a few years ago. I miss her. What else is happening this week...?! Lots and lots...I know that I want to start making/designing Christmas cards to send to my family/friends for Christmas...so lets see if I can at least make 2 a night...at least! Well, here is to the week and the crazy-ness the holidays bring! Cheers!

After the Pen: Nov. 20-Nov.26.

This week was...wow, I can't even find a word to describe this week. Let's just say that when I was on the way home after a LONG day on WEDNESDAY, I felt like it was already Friday! I am so glad that I had Thursday and Friday off...and then the weekend! :) I spent a lot of time with family and I also enjoyed that. I love my family! :) We had our thanksgiving meal at my sister's house and once again she out did herself, like she does every year! :) I did not participate in Black Friday shopping, but I did take advantage of it's sales...online. :) I did buy a TV online from Target since I did have some giftcard's to use...but did you know that you can only use 4 giftcards at one time (while online). Oh well, I could have gotten a TV for "free" if that wasn't the case...with all the giftcards and the deals that Black Friday brings...but oh well, that's okay, at least I still have some balance in my Target account. And I did splurge a little on some stickers that were on sale on StickiiClub...but other than that, I spent time either with my family or at the beach...which was much needed. I try to go to the ocean at least once a day, however it ranges from 5 mins to a few hours...and usually during the work week, I only have a few minutes to spare to be at the beach...but because I had a break from work, I had the time to spend a few hours at the beach with my book! :) I loved it! I also go to talk to my parents for a few minutes after not hearing from them for 2 months...so that was good! I loved that. They are coming home for a few months next year and I'm super looking forward to that! :)

...and now it's time for a new week to begin. :) Goodnight!

DIY Advent Calendar.

I think that it is a well-know fact that I love love love stickers and so I decided to make an Advent Calendar using stickers from my sticker collection and also some Christmas stickers that I bought from Target (I just LOVE LOVE the dollar section of Target! You can get some awesome stuff from there, you know! :))

Things needed (to make 1 Advent Calendar--I made two in this post)
3-whole sheets of construction paper (you can choose whatever color you want)
25-5"x3" burlap pockets
as many stickers as you want (to fill up the burlap pockets)
a pen
a ruler

I first took 3 regular construction paper and cut them in half lengthwise and on one half sheet I marked two inch boxes and then on all of the half sheets I drew a line 1/2 inch from the bottom. (I only need 2 1/2 sheets of construction papers though)

So it ends up looking like this when you are done.

I did the same thing to the green.

So when you are finished with all the measuring, I had them out like this, then I put this part to the side.

Then with any colored ribbon, I put tape on the end and then I....

started lacing the one set of 25 burlap pockets with the color green.

Yay! I'm finally done! I might be easier if you had one of those large craft needles, but I didn't and so the tape on the end helped.

Then I started lacing the other set of 25 burlap pockets.

I continued this until I was done with all the lacing!

Here are the two sets of 25 burlap pockets all laced with their ribbons. Then I put that aside

and brought back the stack of half construction sheets and cut out the rectangles.

Fold where the bottom line is. (For a faster folding experience, use a ruler)

Here are all my green squares all cut and folded.

Then I tested it out to make sure that the rectangular fit in the pocket! It does! :)

The I started to write the countdown on each sheet of paper started with "24 days until Christmas!"

All the way down to Christmas day! :)

So here is another reminder...START at 24 days of Christmas and end at Merry Christmas.

Then you do it all over again with your other set (if you are making two, like I am!)

I then went through my sticker collection and chose stickers that I thought that my niece and nephew might like...

And then placed each sticker where they should go in each pile. (in this case, my nephew had the red cards and my niece has the green cards.)

For me, I paired the red cards with the green ribbon...you can choose whatever colors that you want...

Then stick them in the burlap pockets! Remember to start in the correct side, depending on what side you want the ribbon, on the front or the back...I chose to have the ribbon on the back.

Did that with both sets...

And I thought that I was all done with that part! But....

But I ended up going to Target the next day and saw this adorable Christmas stickers that I HAD To add to the Advent Calendar! :)

Put pieces of the sheets out for the stickers...and

divided the pieces among the two piles so that they had a Christmas themed sticker in each pocket.

(optional) Then I made a count down chart for the keikis to place whichever sticker they wanted on the countdown day. I laminated it so that I can use it again next year and for years to come...

And there it is...my DollGirl's and KaiBoy's Advent/Count Down Calendar for Christmas! I hope that they will like it! I love those two so much...and I love doing things like this for them! :)

For the love of postcards!

It took 16 days for this multi-view postcard to get to me from Czech Republic. I love how Jitka added cute stickers for me to enjoy and I love LOVE that circular stamp that she used! Thank you, Jitka!

Although this postcard took 19 days to get to me from Denmark, the picture is of a statue in one of Belgium's botanical garden. I am guessing Lisbeth was there recently to get me this postcard! I don't even remember the last time I experienced the snow! I think I can do without it for a while. I would much rather stay where it's warmer. :) BUT in so saying that, I think that snow makes everything so beautiful. :) Thank you, Lisbeth!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I love this holiday...well, I love this time of the year when the holidays come around...but I especially love Thanksgiving because everyone is just so...giving! :) I know that we should be like this at all times, and I feel as if I am...but then I feel it more around me and it's a nice feeling. The bummer today was the I was not feeling so well. I think that maybe I was just exhausted from everything...and with my sleeping problem, my body knew that it was on vacation mode and so it was not helping with trying to be up and at 'em! Oh well, I still have a beautiful day filled with family and friends. :)

I had gone over at my sister's house (where we annually have out Thanksgiving feast) to play with the little ones while Mama was in the kitchen cooking up a storm and their dad was fixing my car (I love my brother-in-law!!). We made a lot of crafts...mainly colored paper and made a butt load of paper airplanes! That was a lot of fun! And little KaiBoy had fun chasing all the airplanes! It was so cute to watch and be a part of! Then KaiBoy had to go down for a nap and so I took DollGirl outside for a walk for me and she rode her bike.

I live by the ocean...and I know that I will never get tired of the amazing view from my window or the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore at all times of the day...and the cool breeze coming in from the ocean...I love it and I will always choose to live by the ocean (if I have a choice!) However, my sister lives in the valley surrounded by mountains. I know that Oahu is known for it's gorgeous beaches...but wow, the views and hikes of the mountains are just a beautiful! It's a lot cooler and it rains more where my sister lives and she only lives like 10 minutes away from where I live...but that is the difference if you live by the ocean and in the middle of mountains.

And my sister's neighborhood is really nice and kid-friendly. Actually, a lot of my preschool ohana lives here! I didn't know that until Halloween when it was one of my parents who hosted the neighborhood Halloween entertainment! And wow, did they throw it down! Stage, fog machine, HUGE spider decorations, lights, EVERYTHING! And that's when I realized that a lot of them lived there...so that's good!

I adore how grown-up my DollGirl is now! She is so independent and her own unique self. I see so much of her mom and dad in her...and I even see how she is like her grandparents (my parents)...she is so kind-hearted, super curious, loving, smart...SUPER smart (I might be a little bit biased. :)), and loves to take initiative-somtimes to the annoyance of her parents! I got her a tool set for her birthday...a REAL tool set and she loves to use them, and she will call everything by name and she knows how to use all the tools.  She is her dad's little shadow and wants to be exactly like him. It's super cute!

~Bragging/Proud Aunty Moment!~
Side story: So I was trying to move my classroom furniture around to accommodate these extra storage space that my TA had given me, and some of the furniture was so heavy and my DollGirl was there and she said, "Aunty, you need a dolly to move the heavy furniture" and this one other child who was also there went and took a Doll (toy) and gave it to me...and DollGirl was like "No, a dolly"...I knew what she meant though! And when I told her I didn't have one here at the school. She then looked at the furniture I was trying to move (which was this one movable shelf (with no wheels) that was like 7 feet long and I was just trying to move it over a few inches) and she said that I have a moving blanket we could put it under the shelf and pull the blanket. Yep, just like her dad...the way she analyzes situations and try to come up with a solutions. It still cracks me up when she tries to explain to her friends that they need a "stabilizer" on the bottom of their block buildings so that it won't fall down. She goes..."it needs a strong base!" Oh my DollGirl!

My family loves puzzles...I'm okay with them, I can sometimes sit there and do it...but not for long, I can't sit still long...and neither can my sister, however there is usually a puzzle going on when we are all together. And today was no exception. They usually do a 1000 piece puzzle...for Christmas one year I gave them a 3000 puzzle...and it's still there, undone...but every so often, they pull it out and put some pieces together. :) Their thing is that no one can leave until it's done...but they are pretty fast at it anyways...with my sister and I having our moments by the table trying to help. This year, Kuya Neal decided to make it that much harder by placing the puzzle on a pattered top! What?! :)

So, this is the first time that we are having our Thanksgiving gathering at my sister's "new" house since she just moved her in June...and also the first time using the table that Kuya Neal built for my sister. He is such a handy man!

Even though Kuya Neal is a vegetarian, he was the one who was carving the turkey! Oh, I love the white meat! It's my favorite meat!

I am sitting on Kuya Neal's recliner chair right by the window and I love my sister's view! You can see the beautiful view of the mountains! And I love how green everything is!

And I turn my head, and here is my little KaiBoy on his way to me with a book. Whenever you sit in this recliner, KaiBoy takes it as an invitation to bring you a book so that he can cuddle with you as you read to him. I am not complaining. Ever. I love that.

I didn't really take much pictures of the food, since I do try to live in the moment and we were busy just being with each and of course stuffing our self with the amazing food that my sister cooked! So good everything was! But I am so glad that I am with my family. After being away from them for 6 years...I never want to be without my family...and I love my family. So much. I love them.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
